UN Evaluation Group (UNEG) Announces its Strategy 2014-2019
  • December 04, 2013

UNEG, the United Nations Evaluation Group, just announced its new Strategy for 2014-2019.

It outlines how the Group will continue to support its members and partners as they strengthen the independence, credibility and use of evaluation and how UNEG will inform UN reform processes and cooperate with the global evaluation community.

The Strategy – which was based on the findings of an independent assessment conducted between November 2012 and April 2013 - sets the course for UNEG's future work, building on its past achievements and guiding a work programme that will be implemented by UNEG Members over the coming years.

Four strategic objectives are identified as follows:

  1. Evaluation functions and products of UN entities meet the UNEG Norms and Standards for evaluation;
  2. UN entities and partners use evaluation in support of accountability and programme learning;
  3. Evaluation informs UN system-wide initiatives and emerging demands; and
  4. UNEG benefits from and contributes to an enhanced global evaluation profession.

UNCDF participated in the drafting of the Strategy and will continue to play an active role in the work of the UNEG Task Forces over the months and years to come.
