UNCDF MM4P in Uganda supported MTN and CBA in the launch of MoKash, a new savings and lending financial product on mobile phones. Thanks to the research and technical assistance provided by UNCDF the product first designed as a one fit all, was further developed with a segmented approach. The design was improved to answer the needs of smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs.
MoKash aims at encouraging savings while improving access to microcredit for the unserved and underserved, thus bridging the savings and credit provision gap in Uganda.
