“Microfinance institutions that don’t embrace digital finance will be left by the wayside.” This statement by Mamadou Gueye, CEO of CAURIE-MF, a microfinance institution (MFI) based in Senegal shows the motivation and interest of his institution in digital finance. In 2017, the MFI tested the digitization of its operations on the field (savings and credit operations) with the support of UNCDF-MM4P. Good results from the pilot opened up new opportunities for the MFI, but also for the West African microfinance sector as a whole.
