Roundtable dialogue on Role of Digital Financial Services in Promoting Inclusive Growth: Challenges and Opportunities

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) organized a high-level roundtable dialogue on ‘Role of Digital Financial Services in Promoting Inclusive Growth: Challenges and Opportunities’ at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka, on May 9, 2017.

The objective of the roundtable was to engage industry leaders towards collective and practical solutions for driving the next frontier in Digital Financial Services (DFS) to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support priorities of the Government of Bangladesh in advancing financial inclusion in the country.

A total of 91 representatives from the Bangladesh Bank, telecoms regulatory authority (BTRC), commercial banks, DFS providers, Telcos, technology companies, FinTechs, development partners and relevant government ministries took part in the dialogue.

The keynote presentation addressed the existing status of DFS in Bangladesh, associated challenges and risks, and recommendations /ways forward. This opened the floor for discussion and debate on the issues relating to DFS in Bangladesh from the delegates attended.
