Summary

The MAP Global Insights series – Volume 2

Making Access Possible (MAP) is a multi-country initiative to support nancial inclusion through a process of evidence-based analysis feeding into a nancial inclusion roadmap jointly implemented by a range of local stakeholders.

MAP was initiated by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and is implemented in partnership with FinMark Trust and the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri). In each country, MAP brings together a broad range of stakeholders from within government, the private sector and the donor community to create a set of practical actions aimed at extending nancial inclusion tailored to that country.

The volumes in the MAP Global Insights series consolidate and synthesise the learnings from the MAP programme across the 18 MAP countries.

NOTE 2: Humanising data: The MAP toolbox for ne-tuning and calibrating national metrics and optimising consumer delivery. Applying the MAP data analysis tools to the extensive consumer data gathered in-country enables accurate understanding of actual consumer behaviour and needs, both country-speci c and in terms of patterns identi able across developing countries. Findings from the use of the MAP tools have challenged a few of the conventional nancial inclusion assumptions, in the process contributing to the global pool of nancial inclusion metrics. The tools are central to supporting government and stakeholders in evidence-based decision-making towards smart, consumer-focused solutions.
