The Local Government Support Programme (LGSP) builds on two preceding initiatives: the Local Development Programme (LDP), piloted initially in Bobonaro and Lautem districts from 2005, and the Local Government Options Study of 2003. The LGSP is a five year programme that began in 2007 and is scheduled to end in December 2011, with a budget of USD 7.7 million financed by UNCDF, UNDP, Irish Aid, Norway and the Government of Timor Leste. of which USD 6.6 million have already been spent.
