On 30 September 2018, the "Nepal Financial Inclusion Portal" was launched in Kathmandu by the Governor of the Central Bank. This video showcases the objective and basic functionalities of the first RegTech solution for Nepal. For the past three years, UNCDF actively supported the Central Bank of Nepal to develop a portal that can map out all financial access points across Nepal.
Prior to this, there was no digital system in place whereby the Central Bank could collect, evaluate and analyze data that are submitted by the financial institutions. Thus, this portal held the potential to eliminate the human errors of managing big data, support data-driven policy formulation, determine the financial inclusion landscape and more.
