In 2017/18 the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) undertook the first comprehensive review of micro-merchants in Bangladesh engaged in the retail sector, particularly in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) operating mostly in rural areas. The report highlighted a number of ways in which digital technologies and mobile banking can support the growth or retail micro-merchants.

The video underscores the project development objective of SHIFT-MDDRM by establishing the economic significance of Micro-merchants in Bangladesh. Besides, it specifically shed light on findings and recommendations from UNCDF’s Micro-merchant Landscape Assessment Study conducted in Bangladesh.
