In 2018, UNCDF supported Ecobank in Benin, to test the Agency Banking model with the objective of extending its distribution network and reach new customers. Interesting lessons have been drawn from this project, the first one in the WAEMU Zone.

This case study delve into the different phases of the project, focusing on successes and challenges encountered in developing this new model.

The key learnings of the project will help West African banks move forward in expanding their services especially in rural areas where there are real opportunities.
