Summary

Purpose

This Expression of Interest (EOI) is a notice used to assess interest in an upcoming request for proposal.

Institutions are requested to express interest and provide information about their services, resources, qualifications and experience. This method may lead to identify a shortlist of solution providers considered prequalified and therefore invited to submit detailed proposals at a later time.

Background

Through the i3 Programme, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is conducting a research to map out opportunities to improve the financial health of smallholder farmers and agribusinesses in Malaysia.

This ‘call for expression of interest’ serves as a market scan for us. We know there are amazing solutions out there that we may not know of yet, and we want to make sure these are reflected in our research.

Do you have a financial solution to improve the productivity and income of smallholder farmers and small agribusinesses?

Objective of the study and pilot

The study and pilot are intended to identify potential high-impact use cases to improve the financial health of low- to moderate-income (LMI) Malaysians in the agriculture sector, especially through digital financial solutions. Use cases can be in any of the four pillars of financial health, namely (1) Planning, (2) Spending, (3) Saving, and (4) Borrowing.

We are targeting pilots to start as early as September 2020.The outcome is expected to be a commercially sustainable solution or a combination of solutions that demonstrate a positive impact on the financial wellbeing of smallholder farmers and small agribusinesses.

What’s in it for you?
