The Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) held in January 2021 garnered support for an extremely ambitious set of actions on locally led climate change adaptation. The anchoring event highlighted the importance of locally led adaptation to meet the adaptation challenge equitably, sustainably, and effectively, as called for in the Global Adaptation Commission’s flagship report of 2019. At the Climate Adaptation Summit, UNCDF introduced the LoCAL program and reaffirmed its commitment to scale up adaptation funding to 100 million for direct access to local governments.
