The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) Tanzania, the main implementer, and fund manager of the CookFund programme, recently played a pivotal role in sensitizing women entrepreneurs who own small-scale food vending businesses to adopt clean cooking technologies. This enlightening seminar, organised by the Tanzania Women Empowerment Network (TAWEN), took place on the 12th of September 2023 in the Kigamboni District of Dar es Salaam, an emerging hub of economic activity away from the central business district of the region.

Key stakeholders in the clean cooking value chain, including notable financial institutions such as Exim Bank, KCB Bank, NMB Bank, NBC Bank, government representatives, and major LPG companies like Taifa Gas, Oryx, and Lake Oil, converged to demonstrate their collective commitment to raising awareness about the critical transition to cleaner energy sources. The event fostered a participatory dialogue that provided women entrepreneurs with an invaluable platform to share their challenges and experiences.

In alignment with national objectives, the CookFund program stands firmly behind the government's strategy to ensure that 80% of households in Tanzania embrace clean cooking by 2032.

The CookFund program remains dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and advancing sustainable, clean cooking solutions to benefit both local communities and the environment.
