Many of us can’t imagine living without an arm’s reach of water, but for a number of Niger’s rural people, it is a reality they have to face daily. Confronted with the rising concerns over climate change, the locals attest to strange weather patterns. Recently, numerous locals have noticed the rainy season has started earlier than the usual time.
On March 27th, Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), in partnership with the UNCDF, are officially launching the 'Bank the Youth' Campaign. The aim of this Campaign is to overcome the barriers to financial inclusion for young people and increase their exposure to Child and Youth Friendly banking products throughout the world.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
My most blissful moments are spending time with my family – my daughter, wife, siblings – and you talk and chat and eat and worry about nothing.
What is your greatest fear?
As you leave Kampala and its busy streets, you head into rural Uganda where you exchange small shops and boda-bodas for coffee, maize, goats and chickens. More than 80% of the population lives here, and agriculture and its large cohort of smallholder farmers account for 23% of Uganda’s GDP.

UNCDF has been supporting Star Telecom (Unitel), a mobile network operator in its efforts to launch the first ever mobile money wallet in the country.
