Presentation of the Global Findex survey and database
14 June 2018,
9:00am - 10:30am
(Local time)
One UN Plaza 23rd floor - New York or by webinar
UN Capital Development Fund
The UN Capital Development Fund cordially invites you to hear the architect of the Global Findex survey and database, Dr. Leora Klapper, present findings from the recently released 2017 Findex report.
The data shows that while financial inclusion is on the rise globally, accelerated by mobile phones and the internet, gains have been uneven across countries, often held back by large disparities between men and women and between the rich and poor. Globally, 69% of adults now have an account at a bank or mobile money provider—up from 62% in 2014 and just 51% in 2011, a crucial step in escaping poverty. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, June 13th using the link below to join in person or by phone. If you are coming in person, please allow time if you do not have a UN badge.
Leora Klapper is a Lead Economist in the Finance and Private Sector Research Team of the Development Research Group at the World Bank. Since joining the Bank as a Young Economist in 1998, she has published on entrepreneurship, banking, access to finance, corporate governance, bankruptcy, and risk management. Her current research focuses on consumer finance, digital payments, and measuring financial inclusion. Prior to coming to the Bank she worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Bank of Israel, and Salomon Smith Barney. She holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from New York University Stern School of Business.
