
Fabrizio Cometto is the Investment Services Advisor at the United Nations Capital Development Fund, based in Nairobi, Kenya. A dual national of France and Italy, he has over 25 years of experience in investment management and international business across both the private and public sectors. Fabrizio holds an MSc in Management from HEC Paris and a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University SAIS. He speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Mandarin.
Fabrizio joined UNCDF in 2018 as an Investment Specialist and was promoted in 2021 to Deputy Director of the Investment Platform. In his current role as Investment Services Advisor, Fabrizio provides strategic oversight and advisory support for the design and delivery of UNCDF’s Investment Services, encompassing investment advisory, capital deployment, technical assistance, system change, and impact management. Collaborating with the Chief Financial Officer, the Investment and Implementation Division, and Regional Investment Teams, he advises on integrating investment solutions into development projects and advancing UNCDF’s mandate among diverse stakeholders.
Before joining UNCDF, Fabrizio was Portfolio Manager at MCE Social Capital, where he managed investments in agriculture, renewable energy, safe water access, and financial inclusion across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. He also launched a fund aimed at closing the financing gap in frontier markets. Fabrizio’s private-sector career spanned 13 years, including roles as a credit analyst at BNP Paribas in Singapore and business management positions at Michelin in China. He later joined Ariston Group, leading marketing teams in Asia before becoming Managing Director for the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally, he volunteered with Technoserve in Côte d’Ivoire, supporting development initiatives.
